The Nelson Academy is the premier cutting-edge Irish Step Dancing school for southeastern Virginia, providing many professional performing opportunities with its parent company Nelson Productions LLC. Under the direction of champion dancers Daniel and Kathy Nelson, the school is committed to the development of skilled stage performers as well as award-winning competitive Irish Dancers. Daniel and Kathy are experienced and successful professionals passing along their knowledge of Irish dance to all students. As the owner/director of Nelson Productions LLC, Daniel passes on his extensive experience as a performer and dance choreographer to the students of the school. Kathy excels in instructing both solo dancers and ceili teams and specializes in strength and endurance training for Irish Dancers. Our students come from the Hampton Roads area including Williamsburg, Newport News, Hampton, Yorktown, Gloucester, Grafton, Carrollton, Smithfield, James City, Isle of Wight, Poquoson, Toano, Seaford, and all over the greater Peninsula in southeast Virginia! The Nelson Academy is proud to be a member of the North American Irish Dance Federation (NAIDF).
At The Nelson Academy, we strive to bring the highest quality dance instruction in a warm and friendly environment. We want everyone to feel comfortable so that they can enjoy the experience. By giving our students the most fun and enjoyable classes that we can, we feel that the school will stand out and become the highlight of the week for those who attend.
